Day 25 - Slide Rock

Yes, it has an engine - but no - it's not used to power the cart.

It appears this horse-drawn cart has an internal-combustion engine water pump on it. If that really was its purpose. We think it was used to pump that black goo from the UFO crash site halfway up the canyon.

Apple trees at the foot of the red rocks.

Late afternoon light spills across the orchard field.

They sure got the backdrop right for this orchard.

We thought all the apples were still being harvested. Then, as we poked around the back areas of the farm, we found this. And more black goo.

The top of Slide Rock. New players are working up the chutzpah to actually slide.

The Slide is very slippery. Players are shot down the chute experiencing about 6.3Gs.

Anxious parents wait anxiously.

Relief! Survival! A t-shirt!! What?? No t-shirt?

We've been to Slide Rock a few times - but this is the first time we've encountered actual sliders.

Sedona Fashion Week continues.

The lower pools have far less drama. And more tourists.

The Original Inspiration for Humpty Dumpty.

This racing tractor set the World Speed Record for Racing Tractors at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1922. It reached a top speed of 12mph over the timed mile. The driver barely stayed on.

A pocket of fall colour on the hillside.
